Cora Wilson2009 Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi, Inc Employee of the Year 
A twelve year veteran employee, Cora Wilson, was named Goodwill Worker of the Year at the Goodwill Annual Meeting on March 16. A bit over twelve years ago, Cora approached the employment service folks and asked if they knew of any work that might be available in the Gulfport area. She was told to go to Goodwill and make inquiries there. Cora approached Goodwill and was informed that there was an opportunity to obtain training and possible employment in the processing department. She entered the training phase of Goodwill’s activities in the sorting and processing arena. “My mother had taught me how to take care of clothing as far as hanging and the like so I simply transferring that capability to the multitude of clothing that was donated to Goodwill. I am truly grateful for the confidence that Linda Hancock, the former plant manager, and Bob Campbell, the former Donated Goods manager, had in me when I first came on board.” “My commitment is to do the best I can, “said Cora, “in whatever opportunities are given to me. I truly thank God for the blessing of a job. It is really hard to be without a job. I truly enjoy working with Goodwill and with its people.” Congratulations to Tony James 2009 Mississippi Goodworks, Inc Employee of the Year 
Tony James, a custodial employee for Mississippi Goodworks at the Keesler Air Force Base, was chosen WORKER OF THE YEAR FOR MISSISSIPPI GOODWORKS at the Annual Meeting of Goodwill/Mississippi Goodworks on March 16. Mississippi Goodworks is the federal a subsidiary corporation of Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi that handles all Goodwill’s federal contracts. The Goodworks corporation has had the custodial contract at Keesler Air Force Base for many years. Tony James has worked at this contract for a year. James was recognized for his consistent attendance and punctuality as well as for his ability to interact extremely well with is co-workers. His extraordinary willingness to help his fellow workers in their needs makes him a stand-out. Congratulations to Sakina Washington 2009 Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi, Inc Graduate of the Year 
Ms. Sakina was selected as the 2009 GRADUATE OF THE YEAR. Sakina came to Goodwill as a client, referred by the Office of Rehabilitation Services. She entered the Employee Development Program in August of 2009. She successfully completed the program and accepted a job offer at the Orange Grove Store as a Sales Clerk on October 1. 2009. Sakina began to bloom and overcome many of her daily challenges. Sakina has become a vital part of the daily operations at the Orange Grove Store and part of the Goodwill Family. |
