"My former boss at Mississippi Power, Wilbur Dees, was active in the leadership of two corporations having served in many board positions, culminating in the chairmanship at the end of his career with these organizations." "I have watched the progress that these two organizations have made over the years, and am anxious to work with staff to continue expansion of services for the people of south Mississippi. We have a positive service to offer and I am confident that we can expand the service to many more in south Mississippi. Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi, a not-for-profit corporation founded in 1974 for the six southern counties of Mississippi is all about helping people with challenges to employment become gainfully employed and build their self-esteem. It accomplishes its mission through non-government contact work as well as the collection and resale of donated goods in its retail stores. Its sister company, Mississippi Goodworks, achieves its mission through the operation of service contracts on federal sites such as Keesler, the Gulfport CB Base, the Federal Buildings in Hattiesburg and Gulfport and the Department of Agriculture site in Gulfport.
