Goodwill South Mississippi Launches First Job Extravaganza for Local Students

On January 27, Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi partnered with the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services to host their first-ever Job Extravaganza at Biloxi High School, bringing real-world career exposure directly to high school students with diverse learning needs.

The event welcomed a wide range of local businesses and organizations, from A Latte Friends Coffee Shop and Chris’ Beauty College to members of the local Police Department, each sharing insights into their industries, job roles, and the skills needed to succeed.

Through hands-on conversations and engaging demonstrations, students were able to explore career paths, ask questions, and gain confidence about future employment opportunities.

Designed to inspire and educate, the Job Extravaganza emphasized inclusion, possibility, and workforce readiness; while showing students that meaningful employment comes in many forms. This inaugural event marks the beginning of a larger initiative, with plans to host additional Job Extravaganzas throughout the year at schools across the Mississippi

Gulf Coast.

Special thanks go to Biloxi High School for graciously hosting the event, Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services, as well as to all of the participating businesses and organizations who invested their time and energy into supporting local students. Most importantly, thank you to the students who participated. Your curiosity, enthusiasm, and engagement made the day a success.

Goodwill South Mississippi and the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services remain committed to empowering individuals of all abilities through education, training, and meaningful employment opportunities across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
