For a few years, I had an hour and a half commute home from work, though most of my social life was in neighborhoods right around my office. After living like that for a bit, I began to master the day-to-night look knowing I would likely not be changing my clothes before leaving the office.

Versatile Blazer

One of my first finds at my go-to Goodwill store (I know I use that phrase a lot, but it’s so true for me! There’s one special Goodwill store where I ALWAYS find something amazing.) was this tweed houndstooth J. Crew blazer with gold thread detailing. It was priced at $17 and was such a great steal compared to the retail price of close to $150.
Dark Denim

This staple is a must-have come fall. When the first chilly morning hits I know I immediately become less inclined to reach for a dress or skirt in the morning. Dark denim can be dressed up or down – with a blazer and heels or casual shirt and sneakers – plus you’ll get to stay warm and comfortable in the meantime.
